Description

Tamang Heritage Trekking, This is another interesting journey within Langtang valley which has been newly developed by the Tourism for Rural Poverty Alleviation Program (RPAP). This trek highlights an ancient lifestyle of Tamang combining it with natural scenery and healing baths in natural hot springs.

According to the research, The people of this region are mostly Tibetans who came from Kerung, Tibet across the border and settled in Nepal at the beginning time due to which the cultural and traditions of people living in those areas are similar to the Tibetan. One can visit Tamang Buddhist monastery and also could get chance to observe the beauty of the Parvatikunda Lake at Gatlang which is favorable and famous in that society.

The trekkers will also get the opportunity to visit a traditional cheese factory, where the product is manufactured by hand. Likely, trekkers can also visit local monasteries of Dukchu Gomba (monastery) chosen as sacred site by the great Tibetan Lama: Guru Rinpoche and Chukla Khnaga Gomba.

Itinerary

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu

On arrival in Kathmandu, you will be greeted by our airport representative. After the completion of immigration formalities, you will be transferred to your hotel. Depending on your choice, you can either take leisure rest of the day or visit our office site where you can meet with your tour guide or stroll around the streets of Thamel - a tourist hub in Kathmandu. Overnight in Kathmandu.

Day 02: Kathmandu Sightseeing and Trek Preparation

Prepare for a guided city tour that covers several historical and spiritual landmarks of Kathmandu. The top attractions of city tour include Pashupatinath - the sacred Hindu temple, Swayambhunath - the famous 'Monkey Temple' and Bouddhanath - one of the largest stupas in the world. These spiritual shrines reflect the superb architectures of ancient Nepal. After the city tour, you will engage on upcoming trip preparation with your team members. Overnight in Kathmandu.

Day 03: Kathmandu - Syabrubesi Drive (1,550m)

After breakfast, the journey today takes you in the direction of the north-western hills of the Kathmandu valley. The forthcoming spectacular route passes through the terraced fields and rustic villages enjoying the company of a superb panorama of the Himalayan Range, including the Annapurnas, Manaslu, Ganesh Himal. While traversing through the villages like Trishuli Bazar and Dhunche you will be ultimately connected with Syabrubesi. Overnight at Syabrubesi.

Day 04: Syabru Besi - Gatlang Trek (2,200m)

Today you will begin the trekking section of the trip. The slightly climbing trail from Syabrubesi at first brings you to Goljung Village – a view point from where you can see the incredible views of Ganesh Himal, Gosainkunda range, Shishapangma, Langtang Lirung and the Goljang valley. After enjoying these  magnificent Himalayan views, the slightly descending trail leads you towards Goljang valley. From the valley, the trail eventually connects you with Gatlang – a small but beautiful Tamang village on a hillside with its traditional stone houses. Overnight at Gatlang.

Day 05: Gatlang - Tatopani (2,607m)

This section of the trip enjoys the company and magnificent views of Ganesh Himal and the Langtang Himalaya range and follows a descending trail to take you to Thangbuchet. After crossing the Chilime Hydropower dam, the forthcoming ascending trail brings you to Tatopani. At Tatopani, you can step into the hot water of the natural hot springs to sooth your tired body. It is locally believed that the natural hot spring have a healing capacity. Overnight at Tatopani.

Day 06: Tatopani - Thuman (2,400m) via Brimdang and Nagthali

 The trip today passes through a dense alpine forest and first brings you to Brimdang - a small Tamang settlement on the route. The next section of the climbing trail gives passage through the Nagthali hills from where you can capture the mesmerizing views of Langtang, Sanjen, Kerung, and Ganesh Himalaya range. After enjoying the stunning mountain vistas, you will follow a downhill trail till you arrive at the Tamang village of Thuman. Overnight at Thuman.

Day 07: Thuman - Timure (1,762m) - Resuwadagi - Timure

It will be one of the most important days of this heritage trip in the Himalayas, for it passes through culturally vibrant Tamang villages and eventually brings you to a historically important site for Nepal – the Tibeten border. In its course, the trip from Thuman at first brings you to Timure village where you can experience the way of life of the Tamang people. Apart from the cultural heritage of this Tamang community, you will also discover the history behind the creation of this Tamange village. The village is on one of the old trade routes to Tibet and here a suspension bridge links Nepal and Tibet. After enjoying Timure, you can just trek half an hour to reach Resuwadagi. The ruined but historical fort at Resuwadagi is a symbol of this relationship between Nepal and Tibet that has existed for many centuries. Then we will return back to Timure. Overnight at Timure.

 

Day 08: Timure - Briddhim (2,345m)

The tremendous journey today initially follows a downward trail that reaches Briddhim - a scenic Tamang village decorated with colorful Gompas. After reaching the village, you will find yourself in the heart of Tamang heritage. Briddhim on the lap of Langtang Himal welcomes you with the taste of village home-stay. At this village you can see some Buddhist Gompas and experience the a Tibetan Buddhist village. Overnight at Birddhim.

 

Day 09: Briddim - Lama Hotel (2,470m)

After witnessing the intact Tamang ethnic culture at Briddim, today you will follow a descending trail which first of all brings you to the Ghopche Khola. Then you will pass along an ascending trail to arrive at Lama Hotel - a beautiful hotel on the banks of the Langtang River. Upon arriving at Lama Hotel you will find yourself encircled by lush forests and captivating mountains. Overnight at Lama Hotel.

Day 10: Lama Hotel - Syabrubesi

Today’s descending trail also passes through the lush green vegetation of the region. The five hours’ descending trek towards Syabrubesi is comparatively easy. After arriving at Syabrubesi, you say goodbye to the fantastic mountain trails of Nepal and prepare for bur drive to Kathmandu in the day ahead. Overnight at Syabrubesi.

 

Day 11: Syabrubesi - Kathmandu Drive

The spectacular route today passes through the terraced fields and rural villages enjoying the company of a superb panorama of the Himalayan Range, including the Annapurnas, Manaslu, Ganesh Himal. On your arrival in Kathmandu, you will be transferred to your hotel. The rest of the time, either you can stroll around the streets of Thamel to catch the last minute souvenir shopping opportunity or explore any sights you missed during your first day in Kathmandu. In the evening you will attend a trip celebration dinner with your trek member.  Overnight in Kathmandu.

Day 12: Departure from Nepal

The heritage trek that offered you the chance of soaking up the rich cultural heritage of the Tamang people in the Langtang Himlayan region formally comes to an end today. Hence, before 3 hours of your scheduled flight our representatives will take you to the airport.
