Description

Ghorepani Poon Hill is one of the most famous and classic Trekking point of Nepal which is a short but fantastic trek at the height of 3210m is also one of the best view points within Annapurna region. It is relatively easy trek among other trek rout done in Annapurna region area. This trek is suitable for those who do not have much more time to spend to observe the natural beauty of snowcapped mountains and other naturally made things.
You obviously, can enjoy trek in the spectacular and panoramic mountain scenery through delightful villages inhabited by Gurungs, Poon and magars(Mongolian ). The view point on Poonhill (3210m.) offers the best view of sunrise at early in the morning. On the way to Ghorepani poon hill trekking you can see the dense rhododendron forest with the different sounds of varieties of avers/birds, which is one of the interesting point of this trek.
Likely, Mt. Dhaulagiri, Annapurna II,III,IV, Gangapurna, Lamjung Himal, Barasikhar, Nilgiri, Tukuche Peak, Hiunchuli, and Manaslu also can be viewed which willy really touch your heart and you cannot forget this remembering journey for your lifetime.

 

Outline Itinerary
Day 1: Drive Kathmandu to Pokhara (820 m)
Day 2: Drive to Nayapul (1070 m) & trek to Tikhedhunga (1540 m)
Day 3: Trek to Ghorepani (2860 m)
Day 4: Early morning at 5 AM trek to Poonhill (3210 m) for sunrise view & back to Hotel. After breakfast trek to Tadapani (2630 m)
Day 5: Trek to Ghandruk (1940 m)
Day 6: Trek to Nayapul (1070 m) and drive back to Pokhara
Day 7: Drive back to Kathmandu

Itinerary

Day 01: Drive Kathmandu to Pokhara (820 m)

We will be heading to Pokhara by drive which will take around 5-6 hours (200km). We will be following the Prithivi highway alongside of the Trisuli River. One can observe scenic views during the drive including the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri mountain ranges. Lunch spot will be on the way to Pokhara. Overnight at hotel in Pokhara.

 

Day 02: Drive to Nayapul (1070 m) & trek to Tikhedhunga (1540 m)

We will have an early morning drive to Nayapul from where our trekking starts, it will take around 1-1.5 hours to get there (42km). The trek from here to Tikhedhunga takes about 4-5 hours. Along the trial we will pass villages like Birethanti and Hile. You can observe the natural beauties along with very authentic cultural lifestyle of the people in that place. The trail is shared by the pony caravans which are the primary way of transporting goods and material to the higher places. Overnight at Tikhedhunga at Teahouse Lodge.

 

Day 03: Trek to Ghorepani (2860 m)

After breakfast we will start our trek towards Ghorepani.We will pass through numerous suspension bridges and small villages along the way. After crossing the bridges the trial gets little bit steep till large magar village called Ulleri (2070m). During this climb Magnificent Annapurna South (7219m) and Mt. Fishtail (6997m) can be seen. This trial is filled with snow in winter season which add up more scenic views. It will take around 5-6 hours walk to reach Ghorepani form Tikhedhunga. Overnight at Ghorepani at teahouse Lodge.

 

Day 04: Early morning at 5 AM trek to Poonhill (3210 m) for sunrise view

After breakfast trek to Tadapani (2630 m). The sunrise seen from Poonhill is breathtaking so we hike up to the top (3210m) around 1.5 hours early in the morning to observe the sunrise. On a clear day one can observe mountains like Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges. The sunrise is very spectacular and mesmerizing. The Mount Fishtail along with other mountains shines and sparkles as the sunlight rays hits it. After viewing the sunrise we hike back to Ghorepani for breakfast and get ready for our next destination Tadapani. Tadapani (2630m) is the main stopping point for trekkers between Ghorepani and Chhomrong. The trek starts with a short climb till Deurali. The trial passes through pine forest with occasional view of Annapurna South. The trial will then lower down till we reach Banthati and then to Ghorepani. This takes around 5 hours to reach Tadapani. Overnight at a teahouse lodge in Tadapani.

 

Day 05: Trek to Ghandruk (1940 m)

Ghandruk is a beautiful Gurung village located in the Annapurna region. From here you can see Annapurna south, Himchuli and Machapuchhre. This place is very rich in Gurung culture and tradition. It only takes 3 hours to get here from Tadapani. Overnight at a lodge\hotel in Ghandruk.

 

Day 06: Trek to Nayapul (1070 m) and drive back to Pokhara

We will be returning to Nayapul (about 3 -4 hours walk) where our vehicles will be waiting for us. Then we drive to Pokhara and will be staying at Pokhara that night.

Day 7: Drive back to Kathmandu

Drive back to Kathmandu. Overnight at hotel in Kathmandu.
